One of my readers commented that Painted Stripes was a beautifully written series but that the ending was ‘a bit of a car crash’. I have to admit he was right. I wanted to leave the reader wondering where Jocelyne, Alice and Sandie would go next and Robert’s fate hanging in the balance.
Writing to a self imposed deadline meant I skimped on some of the questions raised during the series. I had intended Jocelyne to be rather mean to Robert but in re-writing this new version Jocelyne, as always, took over and told me what she wanted to do. I hope it ties up some of the lose ends and shows how Jocelyne (and Robert) have changed due to the paintings effect.
