A short interlude that harks back to an event twenty years ago that occurred in The House (Free2Read) and leads to a frightening conclusion in The House of Demons (Paid subscribers)
Cheryl picked up her phone. “Hi, Alice.”
“Turn on your TV and look at the news.”
Cheryl pressed the remote and a newsreader appeared.
“The two old men emerged from the woods near Broken Leg. They claim to be Brad Elliot and Mark Carr, the two boys who disappeared in two thousand and one. The police are investigating but apart from insisting they are the two boys they have said nothing apart from, ‘She finally let us go’.”
A picture filled the screen.
“Jesus,” Cheryl said, “they look about eighty.”
“I know,” Alice said. “How can it be them? I mean they were twenty when we last saw them and that was less than thirty years ago.”
“It’s difficult to tell but they look like older versions of them,” Cheryl said.
“Do you think the police will come asking questions?”
“I would imagine so. Even if Brad and Mark don’t mention us they are bound to look at the original files.”
Alice sighed.
“Look, all we have to do is stick to our original story, Brad and Mark dumped us in the woods and went off looking for some house and never came back. No one would believe what really happened anyway.

Vengeful spirits, fallen angels and ravenous succubae. Sometimes these stories veer into the realms of horror, sometimes they are intensely erotic.
