It seemed to Kate that, even when she awoke the next day she could not drag her mind from its dream-like state. Nothing that Danika had said could possibly be true. Faeries, Greek Gods, woodland spirits, no one believed in them anymore. They were myths, stories made up by backward pagan people who simply did not understand the physical world. Yet, deep inside her, there was some small part of her that was still so primal, so visceral, that wanted so much for it to be true, that it pushed her to abandon logic and accept that it was.

The air was hot again and she thought for a moment of spending the day naked but decided that a thin dress and no underwear was a better choice just in case anyone passed the cottage.
