As a reader, I do find it annoying when a writer finishes a story with, To be continued... and then gives no indication of whether they every got round to it or where the next episode is. I am guilty of this occasionally - going back and adding links can easily be forgotten. Plus, sometimes, stories just stall and the TBC never happens.
So my last offering 'Watching' I left the ending open with a simple statement. I thought it worked out so if I ever returned to it, it would still flow. Im working on a third chapter of a story I think has a lot of potential (if I don't screw it up). I did remember to link from ch 1 back to the prologue. Hopefully I'll remember to keep linking. I like when authors do that - as a reader, its very helpful.
Good stuff! I generally dont have time to write longer reads, so haven't considered this before. But I know as a reader this is all true
