And a-wandering this surely is.... I know you're doing a proprietary thing with these, but even from a horror POV, I'm not sure about these "split-decision" beings Simone. Incubi and succubae are demons by nature (i.e., fallen angels)--they're also 100% spirit, so they're sexless/genderless. They can assume whatever guise they want, however--the ultimate end of course securing the damnation of the victim. They don't have DNA, nor do they "pass down" into families--there's a set number of demons, who were originally 1/3 of the angelic population of Heaven who sided with Lucifer--God kicked them all out of course, but they kept all their powers, including immortality and rank (medieval grimoires are heavy into this--with their dukes, lords, princes, and what not of Hell, all reflective of where they stood in Heaven). Closest thing in the lore would be diabolical possession of the "perfect" type, where the possessed subject is a practicing occultist or consecrated satanic devotee, who's actually given their body and soul over to a malevolent entity freely to advance the cause of Evil--such people are extremely rare, but have been known. Tradition has them (generally) as very powerfully placed, cold, calculating, Machiavellian types--the Hannibal Lecters of the world, beyond any exorcistic intervention. A Holy Warrior like Alexandre could probably take one down with the proper weaponry, but as you pointed out earlier, he operates with a different "sword," which doesn't square with a horror narrative, unless it was a parody of some sort. Yes, I know I'm being a total pain, but I'm serious about my demonology!😊
No you're not being a pain as I know you have read a lot about demonology and I value your insights. Maybe I need to invent new names for these hybrid beings. I am exploring the idea that there is good and evil in everyone by using the human/succubus concept and am following the idea that the demonic side may, in some cases, be less evil than the human. I realise that is completely at odds with what is explored in demonology but I have taken the unusual step (for me) of releasing this as a piece of experimental fiction to see what comments I get. I will finish it but then it might get rewritten or torn down.
I am interested in what might be 'the proper weaponry'? Message me if you have any suggestions.
Of course I’m in the love it 😻 category! Let me chew on directions- I might get an idea but it’s fascinating thus far
Even if I am breaking all the demonology rules
Pffft! Isn't that the best thing about worldbuilding? you get to bend the rules, break them, make up your own? Brilliant stuff!
